Geographical Event Mapping System

GEMS Project Internet security is a major concern for everyone using today's Internet. Problems arise through the increasing complexity of contemporary intrusions programs such as viruses, Trojans, worms, backdoors and root kits. These intrusions or attacks compromise hosts and/or degrade network services ranging from mere annoyances, to disabled nodes, to the theft of personal information. The Geographical Event Mapping System (GEMS) is a laboratory prototype developed at the Internet Innovation Centre at the University of Manitoba that attempts to anticipate possible intrusive behaviour and heuristic patterns related to security attacks, with a long term objective of contributing to attack circumvention.
